Paying homage to Andrew Kramer's original Ultra 3D Earth tutorial, I think I have finally cracked creating solar flares, magnetic field lines and 3D flames erupting from the surface of a star.
In the video, I talk you through creating a procedural texture for the sun using the Fractal Noise effect. Then I show how to take an existing, included material in Element3D and update it with this texture to apply to a sphere. Once that's done, I show how to use the built-in primitives and precomps to create the surface features. Along the way, I share some nifty shortcuts, like how to copy a group's settings, how to use the distort features of Element and how to get a final look.
